Preview of the fourth round
St Johnstone completed a memorable Cup double last season but they could face a tough fourth-round game at New Central Park.
Kelty have benefited from substantial investment this summer and the Fife side are set to play League One football next season. Kevin Thomson’s men are the dominant force in League Two and they are seven points clear of their closest rivals.
Of course, taking on Premiership side St Johnstone is a major step up in the class, but Hearts are full of confidence and their task may not be as difficult as the prices suggest.
The Saints have lost nine games in a row, they’ve only scored three goals in their last ten games and they’re entrenched at the bottom of the SPL table. Callum Davidson remains a great gaffer, but he’s lost key players this summer and it’s clearly hard to keep spirits up when his team is on such a bad streak.
Kelty could be without star man Jamie Barjonas and defender Dougie Hill for the visit to the St Johnstone, which dampens the enthusiasm slightly, but the Saints are still making little appeal to the prizes.
There’s a Premiership clash at Almondvale and Ross County should take the honours.
The Staggies will jump off their excellent 3-1 win over Motherwell last weekend, and it was an even more impressive result considering Ross was down to ten men at the start of the second half.
The win made it just two losses in nine games for Malky Mackay’s side and they can extend that great streak to Livingston.
Livi have won only four home games all season and they have only scored 13 goals in the same number of games at the Tony Macaroni. Ross County are the better, more progressive team and they look good shooting 5-4 with the no bet draw.
