Defender Ethan Ebanks-Landell has signed a two-year contract with Rochdale AFC.

The 29-year-old has already spent the second half of the 2018/19 season at Dale on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers, during which he made 16 appearances, scoring two goals.

“I’m really happy,” Ebanks-Landell said after putting pen to paper.

“I really enjoyed my time when I was here before and I hope I will enjoy it again.

“After talking to the manager, his behavior and the way he wanted to play was what I wanted to do. He was a breath of fresh air.

“I can’t wait to come back for the pre-season.”

Ebanks-Landell signed professional terms with Wolves in 2010 after coming through the club’s academy system. He went on to make 50 appearances for the team. He was also loaned out to Bury, Sheffield United and MK Dons, as well as Rochdale, during his time there.

Following his departure from the Premier League in the summer of 2019, Ebanks-Landell joined Shrewsbury Town, where he has spent the past three seasons, making over 100 appearances. He captained the Shrews in the 2021/22 campaign, having previously served as vice-captain.

Manager Robbie Stockdale added: “We fought a lot of competition to get Ethan. After the signing of Richard O’Donnell, he’s also a very experienced player who knows this level and above, so that’s a real pleasure.

“We are close to several other players and hopefully we can get a few more before the start of pre-season training next week.”
