London Spirit vs. Oval Invincibles preview

London Spirit finished bottom of the Hundred last season but former England captain Eoin Morgan has led his rejuvenated side to five wins from six in 2022.

The Spirit appear to be solid favorites to continue their momentum with a victory for Lord against London rivals Oval Invincibles, whose frail batting squad has suffered defeats to Birmingham Phoenix and Trent Rockets in their last two outings.

Morgan’s men weren’t entirely convincing with the bat in Wednesday’s 17-point success against the Welsh Fire, but the arrival of Ben McDermott certainly boosted their standings.

The Australian international, batting at number three, had 30 and 32 in a few low-scoring games against the Rockets and Fire and he was key to Hampshire’s T20 Blast triumph this summer.

McDermott finished the Blast season with scores of 50, four, 30, 61, 31 and 62 in the final against Lancashire and it looks a good bet at 3-1 for the best score for London.

Oval Invincibles Women have made an impressive start to their 2022 campaign, winning three of their first four games, including a comprehensive eight-wicket win over previously unbeaten Birmingham Phoenix last time out.

The Invincibles squad are so strong that Dane van Niekerk of South Africa, player of the tournament last season, failed to make the 11 in two of their four matches and they should be too good for a team of London Spirit whose only victory this season came against the terrible Welsh Fire.
