Thorbjorn Olesen set the tone from the start of the Betfred British Masters, with the Dane posting a 66-under-par morning round at the Belfry, going from a 70-1 pre-tournament favorite to 8-1.

Olesen, a five-time European Tour champion who played in the 2018 Ryder Cup, is getting his career back on track after well-documented off-course issues. He was world No. 38 in August 2018, but moved up to No. 376 at Sutton Coldfield this week.

Olesen is expected to start at 12:50 p.m. on lap two. A cloudy afternoon with light to moderate breezes is expected. Lee Westwood, Adri Arnaus and Robert MacIntyre form the marquee at 1:30 p.m.

Round two three-ball bettors are pointed at Guido Migliozzi, who lost in the playoff to Richard Bland at last year’s British Masters.

Migliozzi had a dismal start to the year choosing to wear glasses on the course, but he recently ditched his glasses and made his final two cuts. A level 72 first round at the Belfry gave the Italian a golden chance to get more weekend employment.

Migliozzi, clearly relishing the Brabazon course test, is looking for a fair price to continue his progress against Thriston Lawrence and Jonathan Caldwell in the second round (2:50 p.m.).
