Impact Gym’s Danyal Farooq was named English champion in his category after winning the S3 Junior Fight League in Birmingham on June 12.

After winning the regional championship earlier this month, Danyal had little time to prepare for his next fight at 8 Limbs Muay Thai Academy.

The 13-year-old won his five one-minute rounds against his opponent, matched by age/weight and ability, in front of a packed home crowd, winning the Premier League title.

The Oulder Hill student has been training at Impact Gym since the age of seven. He trains under Jaman Chowdhury who is KHAN 13 qualified (kru yai – head teacher); he is also a fully qualified ABA trainer and owner of Impact Gym.

Jaman said: “On the day there were 40 fights, and Danny was fighting 34. Halfway through the show, we found out the fights were about an hour late, and it was a hot, sticky, and hot day. We had to make sure Danyal didn’t get too hot and undisturbed before he got in the ring.

“He had to train for hours after school to be ready for this fight, but he’s so dedicated and focused on sport and school.”

S3 Fight League is a fight promotion promoting Muay Thai and K1 fighting in the UK.
