Match preview

It was a shock when five-time Indian Premier League champions Mumbai Indians failed to qualify for the playoffs last season, but they are in danger of doing so again in 2022.

Despite the majority of matches taking place in their own city this year, Mumbai have yet to come out on top in this term’s IPL, losing their opening four matches.

Their bowlers’ lackluster performances were particularly instrumental in their stuttering start and it’s something that needs to be improved if they are to keep an eye on Liam Livingstone’s revival in their game with the Punjab Kings in Pune.

The Punjab Kings haven’t been great with two wins and two losses to start the season as they have at least one fit batsman in the form of Livingstone.

The Englishman has started the season slowly but has scored 60 and 64 in his last two appearances for the Kings, taking his season tally to 162 points, and he can score at least 25 points against struggling Mumbai.
