Both teams score

Going into the weekend’s fixtures, Liverpool had the second-best defensive record in the Premier League, but their high press can make them vulnerable to counterattacks.

The Reds went four games without a clean sheet before Tuesday’s 4-0 win over Manchester United and there were times in midweek when they were exposed by mere passes into the center of their defence.

United failed to take advantage but Everton, buoyed by their late equalizer in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw at home to Leicester, may have better luck.

The Toffees could find the net, but they are also likely to concede a few against a Reds side who hammered them 4-1 at Goodison earlier this season.

Richarlison for a shot on target

Everton’s main counter-attacking threat will come from speedy Brazilian striker Richarlison, who has scored three goals in the last three games.

The 24-year-old has scored seven league goals this season and his constant willingness to run behind will test a Liverpool defense that is regularly encouraged to sneak high up the pitch.

Alisson often comes to the rescue for Liverpool in one-on-one situations, but there’s a good chance Richarlison will manage at least one shot on target.

Anthony Gordon will receive a card

A local derby should get the juices flowing from Everton’s local attacking midfielder, Liverpool-born Anthony Gordon.

Gordon has been cautioned in three of his last six appearances and appears to be a strong yellow card contender.
