Four Laois companies are mobilizing to sponsor sports teams in Laois schools

Four businesses in Laois dipped into their pockets to support sports teams at a school in Portlaoise.

Following a recent campaign, Portlaoise College secured jersey sponsorship for its volleyball, camogie, basketball and football teams.

Local companies Allbooks, Shaws, Thomas Carroll Electrical and Suirside Engineering have all joined us.

Andrew Shaw is a manager at Shaws Portlaoise.

“The school’s academic progress is among the most impressive in the country and is complemented by excellent extra-curricular programs which provide broad, healthy and creative development for all students and Shaws is delighted to be a supporter of Portlaoise College” , he mentioned.

Principal Noel Daly is proud of his sporting successes.

“At Portlaoise College, we pride ourselves on both the promotion of sport and physical activity as part of the student experience, the outstanding performance of our teams and the sporting expertise of our teaching staff who underpin tends the sport to Portlaoise College. We’ve already had success across Ireland before Christmas in our boys’ and girls’ volleyball and that success was reflected in our women’s basketball team which won a title in the Midlands two weeks ago. We look forward to a busy sporting year at school.”

Thomas Carroll will sponsor the women’s camogie teams.

“I am especially pleased to sponsor Camogie at the high school level for the first time. I am an admirer of the set up at Portlaoise College and the standards achieved. It’s a school that goes everywhere,” he said.
